It has a Volvo Penta outdrive. I have heard for many people that these drive are excellent. Hope they are right. Had it out a few times this year and everything works great. Very solid. My advice to anyone thinking of doing such a project is to fix it right or don't bother even starting. Very rewarding at the end, but can be a painful process getting there.
