Misc. Ugrades
When I restored the boat these cast chrome plated cast cleats were looking crummy. I took a "short cut" and just sanded them and painted white with epoxy paint. Just two boating seasons later the salt water had taken it's toll and the cleats need to be replaced.
I found these on the Sea-dog website catalog and ordered them from a retailer. These are 5" long, through-bolted with large fender washers on the underside and locking nuts. Boat Life sealant is used underneath and on the bolts. All hardware is stainless steel. The cleat has a small recess on underside to hold sealant. Nice! The gunnel is half inch plywood under the fiberglass, so through bolting really attaches them solid!
Rather than spend the time to fill in the old holes with gel coat and all the color mixing and matching involved, I opted for using stainless steel screws sealed with Boat Life sealant.
