The day I brought it home

I got this for 500 bucks. I figured if things didn't go well I could always get my money back out of the trailer and the motor. Its been 1 year since I got it and I'm just now starting to do the repair work.

Transom view.

Motor is a Johnson V4 90HP.

Hole in floor.

Rough roundish side of hole looks like it broke through. The squarish side was cut out. I thought that this was all I was going to have to fix. Boy was I wrong.

Trash bin?

The people at the house where I got this were throwing all sorts of stuff in here. Wood, gutter down spouts, just general trash. I guess they knew more than I did at this point.

More trash.

Front was no better than the back. My wife must have been thrilled to see this pull up. I guess she believes in me cause I'm still here and so is the boat.

transom/bilge

Left seat is battery box. Right seat is bait well with thru hull fitting. I think this may be a problem area for leaks.

Stringers

As bad as this looks its worse when you see it up close.

View under front fishing deck

No protection on bottom of wood. Access hatch to the front leaked and just out of view a pedistal seat mount was also leaking. The uprights have a little glass along the bottom edge, nothing but paint above that.

Forward stringers and flotation under fishing deck

Left and right about mid way in the picture you can see where two more seat/storage areas were. The left you can seee has the thru hull in it like the back and I think this is a problem area. The right side was like an ice box and drained on the deck.

Forward fishing deck.

Foam under the fishing deck was a little wet, but not saturated. I removed it with one of my wifes long thin slicing knives. Broke it too. I cut all along the outside edges then virtically side to side, then front to back. As old and crunchy as this stuff was it was very tenacious. I'm starting to itch just looking at it.

Forward fishing deck, foam out.

Finally all clean. I keep calling this a fishing deck so my wife and daughters wont start calling it a tanning deck. Have to make sure they know what this boat is for!

Forward area

Trash can full of rot and fiberglass.

Forward looking aft

None of the bulk heads have drain holes. Water when it gets in here has to evaporate out. I would like for them to drain when I put the new ones in, but I also want to put the flotation below the deck to free up topside storage space. I'll have to figure out what to do soon.

Bilge

Black area was level with the deck and water spilled into the bilge from there.

Bilge

Closer view of the rot in the bilge. This is thick fiberglass, but it was framed by plywood. It look like this was modified at some point, but its hard to tell. There is a hole from this well into the bilge. For some reason it is about an inch above the area it is supposed to drain. It was designed as though it would never get wet.

Bilge close

Looks like swamp water, you can almost smell it huh?
