Tilt Unit

This is a tilt helm that NFB or No FeedBack by Teleflex.

Model Number

This does not seem to have a valid part number so I cannot get the correct backplate.

Says Telefles

This is really a teleflex unit

Parts for the tilt system

This is the tilt protion to go with the helm. Part number SH91500.

Center Cap

Thisd is the center cap for the new wheel I got last year.

Center Cap Removal

Use a flat screwdriver to remove the center cap.

Steering Wheel Nut

This is where the wheel meets the steering system. A nut, washer and half moon key are here.

Nut pulled flush with top of threads

Use a small hammer and pull hard on wheel while tapping lighly on nut to get wheel off.

Old helm

This is the cap and old helm under wheel.

Cover of old helm

Removed 2 screws and cover slipped off.

The old dash mount

This was kinda hard to remove as the nuts were metric and they are hex bolts. I put them in so I knew I cuold get them out.

Old helm and rack removed

Old helm and rack removed. This helm unit froze after 1 year of use.

The helms new hole.

I had to remove a bit of the edge to get the new helm in place.

Three holes and in she goes.

This is a very heavy duty plate for mounting the helm and the tilt mechanism. I used 3 large bolts with washers, nuts and locktight to secure this.

Thanks to Teleflex for sending me this unit!!!!

The new helm unit.

Notice there are no threads here. This is a tilt unit and has a single hole through the end.

Installed upside down again!!!!

The rack is bolted to the helk with 4 bolts and locktite.

I canot believe I did this again. At least I caught it here rather then later at the lake!!!

The new tilt Mechanism

This is the tilt mechanism installed with two very large screws. I used the supplied spider whashers but still used locktite.

The small hex bolt.

This bolt holds the swivel mechanism to the steering mechanism.

Plastic ring installed

This is the plastic ring that hides the tilt mechanism and the small push lever rubber part.

Rubber ring installed

I had to slip the rubber ring onto the plastic part. This was not to difficult.

All installed.

The final picture of a fuly installed and functional tilt helm.

See the small tab?

The small tab on the bottom lets the wheel go up and down. Springs hold it up and if you do not hold the wheel it pops to the top rather forcefully! Just like a tilt in a car.
