Swim Platform

Swim Platform

Mounted on the boat. Built from 1x6 and 1x4 Mahogany, SS screws, Marine Goop and 7/8" SS tubing. I sanded the wood starting with 120 grit and worked my way to a 220 grit.

Oil Finish

This product I purchased after considerable research. It sells for about 35 bucks/quart. I used less than a quarter of the can. It goes on reallly nice and leaves a nice waterproof and UV-proof finish.

Hardware

Four lengths of SS tubing, flattened at the ends, then bent to match the curves of the deck and transom. Aluminum "L" brackets are mounted at the leading edges. total cost was about 70 dollars from my local welder/fabricator.

3 step ladder addded

Got a good deal on a 3 step ladder which I smounted to the platform using #12 SS screws.

Another view

I spaced the boards about 1/4" apart to allow drainage and lessen the "slap" of waves from underneath. The deck sits about 1/2 inch from the water with 6 people in the boat.

By the way, total cost of this project was under 200 dollars. Nearly 1/5th the cost of purchasing an already complete unit!
