Glastron 1978
Here is the transom, completely rotted out and saturated with water. The boat has been out of the water for 2 seasons now.
Here I had pulled up the carpet, and the 12" plywood that was laid down over the original floor by the previous owners, a quick fix? Na more of a pain in the ass. Soft spots where every ware.
Here the floor was so rotted out, this is right in front of the splash well, where the batteries go. You can still see the water that was under the floor.
Back at the splash well, the floor is removed exposing the extremely rotted stringers.
So after pulling up the floor and finding so much rot I had decided to crack this thing and split her apart, Not a very easy task, I had built a set of saw horses and set the hull on that, after pulling a few hundred screws under the rub rail, chiseling and grinding we had lift off!
Here I took a high speed cut off wheel in the grinder and cut the fiberglass pretty close to the bottom of the hull so I have less sanding and grinding to do, even though there is many hours of grinding to do.
The buoyancy boxes needed to be removed also due to some rotting, I might change this area a little bit and make the new boxes so they butt against the stringers.
