Wiring up
This is a 2 conductor wire with a blue sheath. I had to peal off the blue sheath and then strip the wire was not easy.
This crimper is designed for 8 to 4/0 Guage wire and a metal end.
You use a hammer to hit in and it does a good job.
The Red wire has been crimped the yellow has just the fittin on it before you hammer it home!
This was the old dash with the instruments and removed.
That hole is 4 inches in diameter and is usless to me so I had to make a panel.
I got this from Sea Dog Marine. It helps a lot but the wiring under the dash and the old switch left a lot to be desired. Only probelm I had was there are two magneto one is grond the other is positive but I had no Idea which color that was as the motor does not designate that!!! A call to the local marine tech was a no go either.
That spagetti actually worked ok I just wanted to be sure I never had a problem. I replaced it. Now I have two keys.
The panel is for the tilt/trim switch and the start/choke switch. I will label them later and make it look better.
This is the new dash. The guages are mostly wired bun not the light circuits. Will redo thin and install it permanently. The hammer trick worked again to remove the wheel for cutting the dash.
I finally finsihed the dash and the wiring up of same.
I tried to use a material that was thin but wood that is ti thin breaks. Si I tried to reuse the aluminium panel that was a no go too. I finally got a panel of lexan and that worked perfectly.
This is actually done while on the Butte. I was crusiing in open water with nobody around for at least a mile. I was doing about 24-24 and 3800rpm not to shabby. Topped out at 4600 and 32 mph. Even though boat speedo's are not very acurate it gotta be close as the slip calc all say 9%=32 mph and 15% =30 mph.
Very close to readings.
