Overhauling a $100 1971 Chrysler Valiant

Bought this Diamond in the rough in the fall of 2006. This aluminum boat requires a complete overhaul. It has since been gutted and is being rebuilt. It's a race to get her done for the Lake Erie fishing season... Transom, Floor, Rivets, Add a hatch and bulkhead, interior, carpeting etc...

Convert an early 80's Hinton 4.5m cuddy cabin to an open-decked fly fishing weapon. Project will be split into phases - phase one will get the boat onto the water for the last of the season here in Sydney: decks installed, motor set up with tiller steer and external fuel tank. Phase two will take a little longer and take place over the winter: put in a centre console with forward controls, paint the hull and gunnels and put in an underfloor fuel tank.

Replace Rotten Wooden Floor With Fiberglass Floor

Rotten floor, leaky gas tank, basically it was falling apart. There were 3 choices; sell it for almost nothing, chainsaw, or pull it all apart and put it together again. We've owned the boat for a while, and put a lot of money into it, so the idea of throwing all that away wasn't too attractive. When it ran, it ran good. I always like a challenge, so in the fall of 2005, I got out the sawzall and got to work. I started taking pictures as I worked,thinking it would be useful aid in rebuilding it all later.
